The Sri Lanka Weevil is another invasive species that was accidentally brought to the US and is very common in South Florida. They are leaf eaters and are frequently found on trees but can be found on other plants as well.
This weevil eats leaves starting at the edges. While larger plants and trees may not be affected by the damage, smaller plants can be.
These bugs can be pulled off and smashed. They have a tendency to move to the other side of the leaf when someone approaches, and will frequently drop off the leaf to the ground when you try to grab them. Move quickly. If a spray is desired NEEM or other agricultural oils should work.
