July Workday: Rain, Sun and Shade
Our July workday started out with a tropical downpour but soon brightened!
From visitors from Cooper City to volunteers–first-timers and regulars–we had a great day weeding, planting papaya trees, and working on garden plots. And don’t forget lunch served by Chef Brian!
And then the event of the day: Constructing the ‘hoop house’ for the food pantry plots!
Guided by Master Gardener Miguel Afonso, volunteers put together the shade shelter and covered it with a lightweight aluminate cover. Shade shelters like this one will allow us to plant more delicate plants all year long.
