December 17th Workday Slideshow and Summary

December’s Workday Slideshow is ready on Flickr. The Fruitful Field is in prime season right now with vegetables growing, projects in full gear and preparations beginning for our Annual Tea in the Garden on Saturday Feb 25th! Potatoes, Zai Holes, Sunflower planting, Mustard Greens, Family

Our Food Pantry Plots keep growing- Greens of many kinds, Broccoli, Corn, Tomatoes, Potatoes, Onions, Daikon radishes, Eggplants, Hot Peppers, Herbs, Tomatillos, Strawberries, plus our perennials– lemon grass, moujean tea, pineapple…so much going on!

Don’t forget our next Workday is December 17th at 9:00 am

Lots of great Growing Season projects.

  • Shaping and Planting a new straw bale row for vegetable production.
  • Zai holes for planting velvet beans and sunflowers.
  • Starting seedlings in the plant nursery
  • Starting work on a Moringa grove.
  • Weeding (of course)!

If you haven’t helped on a workday recently or visited the garden in a few months  here’s your chance to see what’s Growing!!

Saturday, November 5th from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm we are having a “Fall Tour” in conjunction with church and neighborhood

So….   Stop on by and–

  • Bring an old Jack O’Lantern to Compost
  • Taste our World Famous Lemon Grass Tea
  • Tour the Garden Plots, Food Pantry Plots, Food Forest, Natives Section
  • And check out the bargains at the Community Flea Market

And If you are a “regular” then come out and help us give guided tours and pour out refreshments for visitors !!

October Workday– Saturday the 15th

So….Saturday September 17th we need your help to plant, weed and mulch. Snacks and light lunch provided.  Come ready to work hard as we grow food and build community.  It’s a new season and great time to be involved.

Always wanted to have your own Garden Plot? Can’t plant where you live?

Autumn in South Florida means back to school and hurricane season, BUT more importantly for The Fruitful Field it means the start of a new planting season!

Our Workday Super tasks:

  • Sweet Potato Harvest and Replant
  • Early Planting- radishes, beans
  • Community Plot- prep for the Fall
  • Banana and Papaya Circles Remulch
  • Plant Nursery work

So, bring along a bag or two of organic compost from Home Depot or Lowe’s and plan on joining us as we Grow, Gather and Give

July Workday: Rain, Sun and Shade
